Editorial Policy & Review Methodology

Hi, I’m the Admin at AussiePicks. My goal is simple: help Aussie mums choose baby essentials and self-care products with less guesswork—through honest, real-life reviews.

First-person reviews (“I”) Minimum 1-week testing Clear ratings (out of 5) PR disclosed Australia context (AUD)

1) How I review products

I write reviews in first person based on my own experience. I focus on what matters day-to-day: ease of use, comfort, practicality, and whether it feels worth the money.

Testing timeframe
Whenever possible, I test a product for at least 1 week before publishing a full review. If something is tested briefly, I’ll clearly say so in the post.

2) What I look at (my criteria)

Depending on the product type, I consider:

  • Ease of use in real life (especially for busy mums)
  • Performance (does it do what it claims—within reasonable expectations?)
  • Comfort & practicality (fit, feel, day-to-day convenience)
  • Quality & durability (materials, build, wear over time)
  • Value for money (price vs what you get)
  • Australia context (AU availability, AUD context, AU retailers/returns where relevant)

3) My rating system (out of 5)

Most reviews include a score out of 5. I also include Best for / Not for so you can decide quickly.

5/5
Outstanding: I’d confidently recommend it.
4/5
Great: a strong choice with minor drawbacks.
3/5
Okay: works, but has clear trade-offs.
2/5
Not great: too many issues for the price/use case.
1/5
Avoid: doesn’t meet expectations.

4) PR samples & gifts

Sometimes products may be sent as PR samples. If that happens, the post will clearly include a disclosure (e.g., PR sample).

Important: Receiving a PR sample does not guarantee a positive review. I share my honest experience—pros, cons, and who it’s best for.

If a product performs poorly (or doesn’t fit my audience), I may publish a critical review, or choose not to publish a full review at all (to avoid wasting readers’ time).

5) Sponsored content, affiliate links & updates
Sponsored content: If I ever publish sponsored content, it will be clearly labelled as “Sponsored”.
Affiliate links (future): In the future, some links may become affiliate links. If that happens, I’ll label them clearly. It won’t cost you extra, and it helps support the site (AussiePicks doesn’t run display ads at this time).
Updates & corrections: Products change (new versions, price shifts, formula updates). When I update a post, I’ll add an Updated note with the date. If you spot something outdated, please email me.
